Walking:

The gentle terrain and mild climate of this region provides easy walking conditions, and walks range from a few hundred meters to several kilometres through a variety of scenery and wildlife habitats.
Walk 1
Walk from the Anchor Inn up Belinda St. to the cemetery, down through cemetery, to historical Boat Harbour where the regions dairy produce and cedar trees were shipped to Sydney before rail and road were established. Turn left and view the “male only and unclad” 100yr old swimming pool. Time approx. 15min.
Walk 2
3kms south at Gerroa is Kingsford Smith Memorial Lookout providing spectacular views of Seven Mile Beach.
Walk 3
The coastal walks on our headland extend from Boat Harbour, either left or right along the beach ways to either Werri Beach or Gerroa.
Killelae State Park
Between Kiama and Shellharbour, this 400 ha coastal reserve features surfing beaches, including “The Farm”, fishing, walks a littoral rainforest at Minnamurra Spit. Picnic and BBQ facilities.
Gerringong Heritage Sites
Gerringong is a picturesque coastal town surrounded by lush farmland, hills and popular Surfing beaches. The heritage sites include original police station 1876, and Church of England 1874.
Kingsford Smith Memorial Lookout
Overlooking Seven Mile Beach as you arrive at Gerroa, where Charles Kingsford Smith made his historic record breaking flight to New Zealand on January 11, 1933. A plaque is on display near the outline of his aircraft, the “Southern Cross”.
Barren Grounds Bird Observatory
This 1750 ha nature reserve in Jamberoo is an established bird watchers’ mecca that is home to the rare Ground Parrot. A “hanging swamp” offering several walks through the heath land including “Griffiths Trail” and boasts stunning coastal views from rocky outcrops. Little Blowhole
More consistent than the big blowhole, situated off Tingira Crescent, Kiama, it provides spectacular and vigorous sprays of water in a natural rocky cove, especially when seas are from the North East.
Bass Point – Bushrangers Bay
Adjoining Killalea State Park, via Shellharbour Village, this is a popular and scenic marine reserve ideal for snorkelling.
Markets
In Kiama the Art & Craft Markets are on the 3rd Sunday of each month, the Growers & Produce Market on the 4th Saturday and the Jamberoo Markets on the last Sunday of the month. Great Fun for all! In Berry, the Art & Craft Markets are on the first Sunday of each month
Kiama Blowhole
Discovered by George Bass on 6 December 1797, the Blowhole situated at Blowhole Point, near kiosk, lighthouse, visitors centre, rock pools and harbour, just a short walk from town centre of Kiama. Most spectacular when the seas run from the south east.
Minnamurra Rainforest
In Budderoo National Park 6kms west of Jamberoo Village, features an education centre
and a raised wooden walkway, which is wheelchair accessible, follows the creek into
the rainforest to enjoy the flora and fauna. Open daily 9-
Bombo Headland
A legacy of blue metal quarrying in the 1880’s has left us with a moonscape of basalt walls and columns. A regular backdrop to video clips and television advertisements, it is located at the northern end of Bombo Beach or accessed from the Cliff Drive cycleway.
Mt Pleasant Lookout
On the highway south of Kiama on the way to Gerringong as you leave “the bends”, a splendid view over Werri Beach, Gerringong and Seven Mile Beach to Mount Coolangatta at the head of the Shoalhaven River.
Bonaira Native Garden
South of Kendall’s Beach the gardens feature established rainforest species. Explore this magical and peaceful oasis by foot or bike. Enter from Reid Street or Bonaira Reserve.
Pilot’s Cottage Museum
At Blowhole Point this restored cottage is now a Maritime and Regional Museum. Features
detailed pictorial records of Kiama’s past including cedar getter, basalt quarrymen
and our shipping history. Open Friday-
Carrington Falls
A spectacular waterfall of almost 50m which drops into Kangaroo Valley. There are many walks and lookouts, including a disabled track. 18 kms from Jamberoo Village.
Saddleback Mountain Lookout
Just over 7kms southwest of Kiama and 600m above sea-
Cathedral Rocks
Located 3km north of Kiama at the southern end of Jones Beach, this distinctive rock formation has fascinated sightseers for over a century. View from Cliff Drive.
Seven Mile Beach National Park
This densely forested coastal park is located at Gerroa, 3 minutes south the Anchor Inn. Several picnic & BBQ areas are available. The park backs onto the famous Seven Mile Beach.
Crooked River Winery
Established in 1998 this winery, vineyard and café is on Willow Vale Road just off the Princes Highway, and just couple of minutes drive from the Anchor Inn.
Having won 18 medals it is the largest winery on the South Coast proudly offering 13 reds and 9 whites which can be sampled at cellar door tastings.

Spring Creek Bird Hide
The observation hide located between the lagoon and freshwater lake enables a close up view of waterbirds including cormorants, chicks, moorhens, coots, swans and many other local species. Access from Glenbrook Drive off Dido St, Kiama.
Dry Stone Walls
Found throughout the area, more obvious in pastures west of Kiama. Some appear throughout older residential parts of town. Most were constructed over 100 years ago as paddocks were cleared, with much work attributed to Thomas Newing a prolific and skilled stone wall builder for over 60 years. The Terrace
Built in 1886 to house local quarrymen, these lovingly restored historic timber terraces are the last of their type in NSW. They now provide a delightful and unique shopping centre with a fascinating array of crafts, giftware, jewellery, antiques, books, curios and eateries.

Located on the northern river bank on the entry to Nowra, approximately 4 km west from Shoalhaven River Bridge, the largest native animal park on the NSW south coast, with over 100 species of native Australian animal, birds and reptiles.

Illawarra Light Railway

Illawarra Lookout

Jerrara Dam Arboretum & Wetlands
A picturesque reserve, 5 kms west of Kiama, on the banks of a nine hectare dam was once the town’s main water supply. A relaxing picnic area surrounded by remnant rainforest and freshwater wetland.
